Gallery Image In our model, longitudinal wave motion is in the middle row, and the motion was activated from the drive train by a series of connector rods using both blue/green K'nex hinges and combinations of an orange chain clip and a black chain segment. A simple pivot on vertical members of the framework restricted motion to a horizontal plane.

Transverse wave motion is shown in the bottom row of the model, using linkages similar in design to those used for longitudinal wave motion. This time, simple pivots on horizontal members of the framework restricted motion to a vertical plane.
